My Opponent Jim Morgo doesn't respect smart, successful women.

Good morning. I just want to share a press release with all of you, over an issue that is in today's newsday. If you read today's article you would see my opponent Jim Morgo played "Wag the Dog" with his line about how I called him a liar.
Let me explain to everyone that Jim Morgo has been sending out mailers that contain LIE after LIE about me. One of them says I will raise taxes by 25-percent if I'm elected. I have NO IDEA where the man even comes up with this stuff. Those types of mailers don't offend me because they are just garbage. And I have not complained about those mailers because I think they are silly and hold no merit. But this particular mailer that painted me in such a sexist light OFFENDS me. My opponent has said to my face, "I guess the people of Islip will have to decide between a man with a resume, or just another pretty face." He has made these comments to others in our community and I have taken the HIGH road. But when I saw that he was ignorant enough to put his feelings against women in a mail piece- I HAD to speak up.
So here is a press release on the issue so you can better understand why I am so furious with Jim Morgo.

Islip, NY – Islip Town Council candidate Trish Bergin (I,R,C - East Islip) today blasted Democrat Jim Morgo for a recent campaign mailing in which he refers to her, the sole female candidate for Town Council, as someone whose career consists of merely “read[ing] the news.” Morgo depicts Bergin as a coffee-clutching, movie star capable of only reading headlines about Britney Spears.
This award-winning journalist who worked in the trenches for nearly two decades for Channel 12 News on Long Island, and CBS in New York is appalled by Morgo’s lack of professionalism. Trish, who most recently has been appearing as a guest on Fox News Channel’s Strategy Room stated she is “astounded that in this day and age a woman running for office is mocked and depicted as someone who lacks gravitas by a male political opponent. “If I were a male journalist I am certain Mr. Morgo would not have tried to depict me as a Bimbo. This reminds me of the night former Islip Town Supervisor Pete McGowan arrogantly called Assemblywoman Ginny Fields (D) a ‘Bimbo.’ This type of behavior transcends all political party lines and must end. This is 2009, not 1961.”
Trish Bergin will be joined at today’s press conference by more than a dozen supporters, including representatives of a newly formed group – “Moms for Bergin”.
Bergin, who holds a Master’s Degree in Journalism, was on the front lines of some of New York’s biggest stories including 9/11 and TWA Flight 800. Ms. Bergin was awarded for her investigative report on secret uranium-tainted land in Hicksville. She also received an Emmy nomination for her undercover series on the drug problems plaguing our schools. Her work took her overseas to dangerous areas in Mexico to follow the money trail of illegal immigrants. Trish also reported from post-communist Albania where she covered the Kosovo refugees fleeing the border for safety.
“For a man who aspires to equally represent all Town of Islip residents, Mr. Morgo showed a complete disrespect for women and an overt lack of judgment,” Bergin concluded.

  1. There's no place for the type of attack that Morgo perpetrated. We are so sick and tired of politicians personally attacking each other. We want facts not attacks! If this is how he is going to campaign, I cannot imagine he'll change once in office. He's not the type of person I want representing me.
